These clients have a growing family and needed a bit more room for their family's activities.

We started with a standard tract house of 1,400 s.f. and added 400 s.f. across part of the back of the house. The owners had sketched what they were thinking of and I did the drawings that went to the city's Building Department for the Plancheck and Permit process.

The project included the addition of two bedrooms, conversion of one of the existing bedrooms into a new bathroom and an extension of the hall, some other remodel work around the house, and a covered deck/porch at the back of the addition. There is also provision to open up the living room wall into part of the addition as the family dynamics change in the future.

Adding on two bedrooms and a large bath, insulating underneath our entire home and replacing all our old windows, gives you some idea how intrusive this project was to our daily activities. We have a large family, with 8 active children between 6 weeks and 18 years of age at the time. This aspect alone would have been less than desirable for most contractors to work with or around, but Mr. Youngs made it fun for all of us, never refusing a 3 year olds questions, even at inopportune moments.

My wife says she was totally at ease with Mr. Youngs working on and in our home during the project. She cannot stress enough how important it is to have someone you trust, are comfortable with, will listen to your concerns and requests and whom you do not have to be concerned about the children hearing unfavorable talk or music around. She also said Bob’s safety measures for the children were wonderful.

Bob’s attention to detail and the quality of his work continues to impress me even today.
